Assuming I passed the ASVAB with a high score what are the jobs available for me? and what rank exactly would I be getting. And also, I have a Certificate in Wyotech Automotive/Sequioa Institue of Automototive (together with my aas in computer technology from HEALD COLLEGE), will that give me higher rank?

Your degree may serve to get you into the IT field in the navy, but it isn’t a guarantee. And you will hold the rank of E3 with 60 credits or an Associates. If you want to be an officer you’ll need a bachelor’s. However, if you don’t care about that, you will be an enlisted member working in a facility with IBM clones at a variety of facilities, maybe shipboard, maybe not…, if you choose IT. But, there are loads of technological jobs you would quialify for, provided you aren’t disqualified in other areas, i.e. age, criminal record, physical limitations such as eye sight etcetera.

With an associate degree you’ll get E-3 out of boot camp. If you want to continue to work in the IT field you will more than likely be on a ship. If you want to work in a similar, but much cooler field with nothing but shore duty stations then Cryptologic Technician – Network (CTN) is what you’re looking for. IT work is usually a little more hardware dependent, but CTN is more related to the intel side of enemy networks. It sets you up more for a career as an information security analyst.

If you pick CTN, just make sure your contract mentions Advanced Technical Field (ATF) and you’re set. You get E-3 out of boot camp, 6 months later you get petty officer 3rd class automatically with no advancement exam, and a year from that you’re up for E-5 which is at a 100% conversion rate presently. E-5 in 1 year 8 months is pretty crazy.

CTN a-school is in pensacola florida and you will likely get duty stations of either hawaii, pensacola, georgia, texas, or maryland.

The main drawback is that you need a 6 year contract commitment and you will also need to be able to pass a background investigation for a TS clearance.

the college credits will get you E3, the highest initial paygrade offered.

what Ratings you could get would be based on your Line scores from the ASVAB.
