A database administrator (DBA) is a person who is responsible for the environmental aspects of a database. In general, these include:
Recoverability – Creating and testing Backups
Integrity – Verifying or helping to verify data integrity
Security – Defining and/or implementing access controls to the data
Availability – Ensuring maximum uptime
Performance – Ensuring maximum performance
Development and testing support – Helping programmers and engineers to efficiently utilize the database.
A system administrator, systems administrator, or sysadmin, is a person employed to maintain and operate a computer system and/or network. System administrators may be members of an information technology department.
They do pay good for database administrator as it requires beyond general computer knowledge. You don’t really need to be good with math. You might need a Computer Science or Management Information Systems degree. Or certifications on any of these areas.

Computer Technology is general knowledge about computers/hardware/software. Database Administrator is someone that edits/updates databases – databases being stored lists of clients/items etc.
There are many varying levels and college/university courses available for the aforementioned vocations – you need to choose which you would like to follow, then narrow the area of that job down. Both have very wide area coverage.
I hope this helps – good luck.
Holy Heck Hosting – shockingly good deals on hosting and domains.

When I was wading through the university, computer science was one of two specialties — Computer Information Systems and Database Administration. The requirements were 12 hours Math subject (two years) for the CIS, or, 24 hours (four years) of Business classes, including 12 hours of Accounting for the DBA. Which kind of made sense and why I went with CIS. Database is its own science, distinct from coding, and seems to offer many jobs.

Both need at least a two year diploma from a tech institute or college .
Computer technology would be broader and mainly includes computer and database s analysis , design, and programming with a little math and maybe an intro course into management or accounting .Hopefully, at the end ur labeled a computer programmer .
Database administration can even be a course or two courses and maybe a part of computer tech. It mainly deals with databases security, maintenance , performance, backup, and recovery.
