People who utilize computers can simply comprehend that computers may work very slowly and have dissimilar system problems if the PC system optimization hasn’t been made on time. How can you fix your computer errors and speed up its performance? And how can you check for your PC performance changes? The system of every computer may show you some alternatives to check for the speed and productivity of your machine. You can do this using particular program checkers. These checkers can show you the performance of your machine visually while your PC is operating. Computer performance checker can give you an understanding if your machine uses any programs and how it operates with dissimilar tasks.
If you go to the control panel you can find not only speed calculators and performance checkers, you may also identify the temperature of particular computer parts, how the core sets work, and the processes that are calculated by the central processing unit. Your checker may show that your performance is low when you are using a lot of applications and programs simultaneously. In this case you should simply add more RAM to your computer. This additional operating memory allows your computer to run faster. But if you do not run applications and your computer performance checker shows that some applications are running all the same, you deal with the background working applications. Go to the start up properties panel and turn off the programs you don’t need to be utilized in your work. This makes free more operating space for better performance.
Use a registry cleaner for scanning your computer and deleting unnecessary DLLs that are left by uninstalled programs and applications. Registry accumulates a lot of problems and errors. If you haven’t cleaned your registry your computer is surely working very slowly. You may be amazed how many errors and problems the registry cleaner may find if you have never used it before.

Windows is a great operating system although it is bulky. Do not be wary if your computer system runs slowly; you can find many simple and effective methods out there which you can use to speed up your computer in very little time. Read some of the useful simple tips listed below that can effectively increase your computer performance.
1. Scan and Delete Viruses, Adware, and Spyware
Malware of any sort is particularly damaging for the computer system and uses up a big chunk of the important system resources. So make sure that you always update your PC’s anti-virus program and periodically scan the computer system for possible threats. It can be absolutely frustrating to remove malware so if you have access to the Internet and even if you only spend a little time using the Internet, you need to scan and delete malware in your computer system.
2. Free-up the Hard Disk Space of Your PC
Your computer system requires plenty of unused disk space in order to run smoothly. For that reason, if you do not have enough disk space in your computer system, it will slow down your computer’s performance. You can free up your disk space by using clean up tools for hard disks. The steps are, go to Start Menu, then Programs, next Accessories, then System Tools, and click Disk Cleanup. This process will clean up the computer system from all of the temporary Internet files and old, unused programs.
3. Defragment Your Hard Disk Drive
Another good way to speed up computer performance, is to defragment your hard disk drive. As days go by, every time you use your computer, all data and information in your computer becomes scattered in the hard drive. Head to Start Menu, then choose All Programs, click on Accessories, then System Tools, and then Disk Defragmenter. This can enhance and make the most of your hard drive and reorganize all your computer files to get easy and quick access.
4. Using a Registry Cleaner Can Speed Up Computer.
Window registry’s can be corrupted with unnecessary entries. But by using a good registry cleaner you can easily delete unwanted items from the registry thus causing the operating system to speed up the computer performance. A registry cleaner is very simple and easy to use software. You have to install it in your computer and it should be compatible with your operating system. Your computer operating does not do cleaning up. It only continually adds up information and data. This is why you need a cleaner software to maintain a smooth performance or to speed up computer performance.

A couple of months back the BBC in the UK did an investigation on computer repair technicians in the UK going though the files of computers brought in to be repaired.
When you take your car to have it repaired you expect the repair shop employees to not go through your car looking for things to steal.
We don’t think about the files on our computer when we take it to a repair shop. But like your personal effects in the glove box or the trunk of your car your files on your hard drive are your personal effects and are private.
How do you safe guard your personal data? Such as your images, passwords, and financial files?
One way is to copy them to another type of media such as a CD or DVD (for some people that would be a lot of DVD’s!) or an external storage device then delete them from your hard drive in the computer.
Another way to keep your files private is to encrypt the files and not store the password on the hard drive in the computer!
Both of the above solutions are clumsy, time consuming, and can lead to data loss if not property done.
As a computer repair tech of over twenty years I don’t take my computers to a shop to be repaired, I do it myself. But I also have three separate storage devices that my data is backed up on a daily basis.
Why three? Because I had some corruption on one and one failed when I needed to restore some data after a destructive virus attack. (See even techs get hit by the thieves!) So I decided to keep three separate backups: My server, an external hard drive, and my laptop.
If you use the default folder My Documents under Windows Operating System you will know exactly where your files are.
By using the built in backup process with the Windows Operating System you can schedule a daily backup at the end of your work day or session. A feature of the backup system is to check the back up files for consistency with the originals files.
One problem with this setup is if your computer fails then you can not get in to the hard drive to delete your sensitive data.
So how do you get around the use of the My Documents folder on the Operating System hard drive?
By setting the options for each program you can store your files in a different location. By default most programs use the My Documents folder. Such as MS Word, when I setup my options I move the files from My Documents to another drive.
By using an encryption program such as PGP Desk you can create a folder on your drive then encrypt it, it will act as a separate drive. If you go this route be sure to not set the Auto Mount feature because that defeats the purpose of encrypting your data to keep prying techs from getting to the data. Using a log on ID and password will keep them from stealing your images, documents, and financial records.
By using an external drive it may be a little slower than the internal drive in the computer but your data will not be on the drive when you take it to be repaired. As above change then programs file storage location, unless you are making video’s you will see a little difference in the speed of access of the files.
Now when you take the computer to a repair shop and leave it to be repaired you don’t have to worry about your Facebook or My Space account user id and password being stolen or your images showing up on some nefarious web site for some losers to ogle at.
As for the repair shop that you pick to repair your failed computer how would you go about finding out if they are honest not only in their dealings with you on parts and labor, but that they will not go through your hard drive looking for anything they can steal?
One way in the USA is to look up the shop at the BBB web site and check their rating (mine has an A rating) and look for any complaints.
Another is to ask your friends about the service the shop provides. Check the www for complaints against the name of the shop, sometimes you can find things in some forums where someone has had a problem that was not resolved by the owner of the shop.
Your best choice is to do it yourself, DIY Computer Repair.
If you are a beginner, novice, intermediate, or pro computer user you should check out how to repair some aspects of your computer. Not only will you insure your data is secure, you will save yourself a lot of time and money.

You can certainly boost your PC speed by excluding unwanted programs and files from your computer, but the best option is to add more memory. RAM or random access memory or the primary working memory in a computer is a very important component of a computer which is used for the temporary storage of programs and data. If there is not enough RAM on the computer, you might face problems in running photo-editing software, surf to a graphically intense website or install a game.
Before purchasing any RAM, you need to ensure how much memory is there on your computer. If you are using Windows XP, go to the Start menu, and click Settings, then click Control Panel. Go to System and then select the General tab. The amount of RAM will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
What amount of RAM is satisfactory? Well, it entirely depends on the program or the application you are running. For operating systems like Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, there is minimum recommended amount. But it is suggested to have more than the recommended amount. It ensures better performance. For Windows XP operating system 256MB RAM is enough while for Vista at least 512MB and for Windows 7 minimum 1 GB RAM is required.
What kinds of tasks you are performing on your computer is also another important factor. For surfing the Internet and writing letters, having 512 MB RAM is more than enough. On the contrary, for games or photo editing more than 1GB RAM is recommended. Now a days, almost all the games specify the minimum amount of RAM for installing them and play. For instance, if you want to play Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban, there must be 256 MB RAM.
You have decided to include more RAM for better performance. You can obviously go to the market and buy a RAM. But do you know, what kind of RAM your computer is compatible with? There are various types of RAM like RDRAM, DDR SDRAM and SDRAM. Check what kind of RAM your computer requires and buy accordingly. Now, DDR3 RAM is available in the market which allows the PC user to enjoy fast computing experience. But all motherboards don’t support DDR3 RAM. Go through your motherboard manual and check whether it is compatible with these types of RAM or not.
If you can’t find it, talk to a remote computer support service provider. There are many such service providers who offer tech support to the PC users to add more memory to computer. You can consult any of them and get their support. Services of these companies are reasonably priced and it is available 24/7.

There are dissimilar general causes of slow computer performance. The most rational idea for figuring out this problem is that a PC is not capable to deal with commands in a rapid way. Customarily computers work very quickly so when the speed is decreased then something has occurred with its rational processes. Your system may have some options to trace for the speed of your computer with the help of specific applications. These applications can view the speed of your PC while it is working. Computer performance calculator can show if computer run any applications and how it is overloaded with operations. You may run no programs but calculator may show that some processes are running.
To determine whether this is true, you need to close all the programs and applications. Then look at the performance calculator. When you see that your PC is loaded with some tasks this means some programs are still running in the background. These applications may be useless for you. The calculator can show central processing unit load and the particular work of every core set if you have core2 duo computer. So you should eliminate these applications and programs from the start up panel. They just consume computer resources that are so needed for implementing other crucial tasks. Just go to the work panel and change its properties. Turn off the applications and programs that you don’t need to be used in your computer boot up.
There are also great programs that clean your registry, clean unnecessary files, delete cookies, temporary files, and useless roots of old uninstalled programs. These roots and data can be present in your registry. Scan the registry and delete all the irrelevant files and fix the corrupted registry. As a rule there are programs that can make all these tasks in a complex. You don’t need to have dissimilar programs for dissimilar goals. You can search for one program that cleans your registry, fixes problems, deletes history and edits the programs to be used in the start up.

If you are reading this you are probably using a computer. The screen you are using to view this is called the computer monitor. Monitors these days come in all different sizes where the LCD screen is the most common type of monitor to have. A person’s choice for a monitor depends on the areas the monitor is being used in and one has to also think about graphics cards to support the various resolutions computer monitors have in today’s society.
This article is written to help you choose the write computer monitor for you. In this technological age it can be hard to choose the right computer hardware for your specific needs and hopefully this guide along with some decent research can help you pinpoint the right monitor for you.
Types
There are two different types of computer monitors you will have to choose from. The CRT and the LCD monitor.
The CRT monitor is the standard bulky and heavy monitor which many businesses still use today and they operate in a fairly similar manner to a TV. They are the screens seen in the older movies such as the first Mission Impossible, The Matrix and Die Hard. As computers and TV’s are moving towards the digital era, you would be wise to choose from the increasingly popular LCD Screen.
The flat screen computer monitor or more commonly known LCD computer monitor is the main type of monitor produced today. It offers a sharper image than the CRT monitor, usually flat screen to save on space and is lighter in weight compared to the CRT model.
Price
As the LCD computer monitor is growing in the industry CRT models become harder to find. As with all things though, they can be bought online at most large commercial auctioning and shopping sites. A CRT screen will vary in price depending on the size of the monitor. A standard price for a CRT Monitor ranges from $180-$400 where as the LCD ranges from $100-$2000. As you can see, the LCD provides a cheaper option while also giving what many believe to be better performance. Once again, prices vary depending on the screen size.
Size
A CRT monitors sizes ranges between 15 inch – 24 inch generally. LCD computer monitors will range between 15 inch – 30 inch. Depending on the environment you will be working in while using the monitor, it is not always the best to go and buy the biggest monitor you can find just because you can! On top of buying a larger screen, other hardware support for screen resolutions will be needed such as a better graphics card. I tend to tell people that if you are using the monitor for general personal and office use then a screen no larger than 21 inch will suffice. For gaming and graphical use a monitor no smaller than 21 inch should be used as the larger resolutions provide the user with a better picture for more precise decisions based on the image viewed. It’s also good to choose whether you want a widescreen monitor or a standard monitor, a matter of personal opinion.
Remember also, that a larger monitor size will result in more pixels being lighted up which therefore results in larger power consumptions.
Resolution
The resolution of the computer monitor is the amount of pixels displayed horizontally x vertically. 1920 x 1080 is the resolution my monitor is set to as I have a 24″ while someone who has a 17″ monitor will generally use a 1280 x 1024 screen resolution. In the end, it all depends on the size of the screen but it is good to note the resolution a screen can support. If you were going out to buy a 21″ which could not support 1600 x 1200 then you would be getting ripped off. For standard accepted resolutions viewed on different sized monitors look below.
15 inch monitor: 1024 x 768
17 inch monitor: 1280 x 1024
19 inch monitor: 1280 x 1024
21 inch monitor: 1600 x 1200
23 inch monitor: 1920 x 1080
24 inch monitor: 1920 x 1080
Resolutions also vary depending on the brand as a 23″ Dell SP2309W will support a whopping 2048 x 1152!
Refresh Rate
The refresh rate of a monitor is basically how many times a second the graphics card updates the image on your screen. Say you had a monitor which used a refresh rate of 1MHz. It would take exactly 1 second before a new screen would appear which means that you would have to wait a second to view anything you typed or clicked in that second! It would be extremely frustrating for most people to say the least. An acceptable and standard refresh rate your monitor should be able to support would be 60MHz while it is recommended that you have a refresh rate of 75MHz or over.
Graphics Compatibility
From all of the advice and information I have read over the years I was never really told about the overall performance a monitor can give out when it is being used in sync with a graphics card. The graphics card really never came into the picture when in reality it matters a lot! As I have already stated, larger monitors will have to have a better graphics card to compensate for all the extra pixels the monitor possesses. When buying computer monitors you should also look for a fairly decent graphics card which can support your needs, even if it means spending an extra $50.
Choosing a computer monitor can be a mind boggling task. Simplifying them into these categories should help you to make a better and more informative choice. On a final and more opinionated note Samsung monitors, Dell monitors and Acer monitors are among the best in the business as they offer great designs along with great performance.
In the end though, computer monitors are essential to everyone who is buying and using a computer.

Computers are everywhere but they are also vulnerable to a number of threats. The computer system’s biggest threat is the dreaded virus.
A virus is basically malicious computer code that has the ability to cause havoc in a number of ways. It may work by destroying the data and programs on affected systems. It may log keystrokes in order to gain sensitive information such as passwords.
Different kinds of computer viruses are known to be in the world wild web at any given time. Here is a look at some of the some of the common types of viruses.
Macro viruses
These are known to be the most widespread viruses partly because of the popularity of programs for which macros are written. Moreover, being platform independent also adds to the overall threat posed by these viruses. In fact macro viruses are known to have already caused much more damage than almost any other type of known computer virus.
Network viruses
Again, these are also an extremely widespread type of virus. These viruses are found in Local Area Networks and are known to spread using the shared network resources. In fact they are so dangerous that if they enter a LAN, they can even choke the entire bandwidth of the LAN which means that doing any kind of work on the network becomes an extremely slow and painful task. Commonly known Network viruses include SQLSlammer and Nimda.
Logic Bombs
Yet another type of computer virus. They can be inserted in a computer program. The Logic bomb is triggered when any function of the host program or any other program is used. Common cases of Logic Bombs are known to have triggered on a given date, generally the April Fools Day or on Friday the 13th (A date considered to be unlucky in a number of countries all over the world). The logic bombs can even delete files if triggered.
Companion Viruses
Companion Viruses are known to be effective on MS-DOS based systems only and therefore all the 9X versions of Microsoft Windows are also affected by it. This is obviously a much smaller threat than it used to be. This virus is known to create new files with the .com extension, though there are some reports of it being capable of creating EXE files. As Windows XP, (the most common OS) is not based on DOS, the threat of these viruses is subsiding.
Boot Sector Viruses
Another really nasty type of virus is the Boot Sector Virus. These viruses are capable of damaging the hard drive itself because they reside in the Sector Zero and are capable of attacking the Master Boot Record of the drive. These viruses generally used floppy drives to spread and have started to decline as the usage of floppy drives has subsided.
Almost all the different kinds of computer viruses can be removed using good anti virus software so it is always recommended that you should have one installed and updated in your computer.

Performing regular maintenance on our computers is one of the best and least expensive ways for us to keep them running quickly and dependably. One of the most common tools used to do this is called a disk defragmentator.
What this allows you to do is basically go through your hard drive and organize all of the files that are there in a way that makes it easier for your computer to access. There are even multipurpose programs on the internet that can do several different types of maintenance like this with just a few clicks of the mouse. But not all of these tools are what they seem to be. In fact there are a growing number of malicious programs designed to look and act like maintenance software, but in reality they cause you computer issues and cost you money. That is exactly what the program quick defragmenter is designed to do, cause you PC problems until you have had enough and get you to purchase and activate the software. Instead of doing this you need to get rid of quick defragmenter.
This malware will cause several different types of errors on your computer including:
#1 Preventing you from opening or using programs on your computer. Once this malware is installed and running on your computer many of the programs that you will try to use will either fail to launch or crash randomly and you will often times get error messages that there has been a hard drive error or that the file cannot be located.
#2 Random pop up messages giving you a variety of information that all states that your computer’s hard drive is in serious need of repair or that there are other issues like the RAM in your computer is running too hot or that there are serious registry errors. From there your computer will appear to reboot in safe mode.
The sheer number of issues that this malware presents you with in such a short period of time makes it very easy to take what it has to say seriously and purchase a copy of the software. If you are experiencing any of these issues then you need to get rid of quick defragmenter quickly.
How To remove quick defragmenter manually.
#1 Start task manager and stop the following process.
winsp2up.exe
#2 Find the program folder called quick defragmenter and delete the folder and everything inside it.
#3 Start the registry editor and delete the following entry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun “winsp2up.exe”
restart you computer and in most cases this malware will be gone. If it is still there it is because this malware is generating random file name to hide itself and this means you need to use the automatic method.
How to get rid of quick defragmenter automatically.
#1 Download a system and registry scanner.
#2 Install it and let it run. This will stop any running malware on your computer.
These are the only two steps you need to follow and this will safely and quickly get rid of malware then repair any errors caused by it. If your computer is infected with malware scan it now and make it run safer and faster again.
